AI Companion Memory: What It Remembers and How to Test It

A useful AI companion should let you continue a conversation without repeatedly explaining the same details. But "memory" can describe several different mechanisms. This guide explains what to check on Girls In Sync and what our current product does not promise. Girls In Sync is an AI service for adults aged 18 and over, not a conversation with a human partner.
Three things often called memory
- Saved history: earlier messages remain associated with a conversation. Seeing them on screen does not mean every message was included in the next AI request.
- Reply context: the information available when a new answer is generated. Recent messages, summaries and selected facts can help, but selection and generation can fail.
- Relationship progress: engagement state associated with a character. It is not a test of factual recall or proof of human feelings.
What Girls In Sync currently does
The application stores conversation history and has backend mechanisms for summaries and remembered facts. These are mechanisms, not a guarantee of accurate recall in every chat. Using the same account, character and conversation avoids deliberately starting a different thread, but the AI may still miss a detail or repeat itself.
There is not currently a user-facing editor for every stored memory. We do not promise permanent recall, perfect memory, or that a subscription makes every answer accurate. Photos, voice and video have their own availability and costs; relationship progress is not a blanket entitlement to paid media.
A simple continuity test
- Start with a harmless fictional detail: "In our story, the cafe is called Blue Window and it closes on Mondays."
- Continue the story with a normal follow-up rather than immediately repeating the fact.
- Later, in the same conversation, ask: "Can we meet at our cafe on Monday?"
- Check both details and consistency. A fluent answer that invents a different cafe or ignores the closure has not passed the test.
- Return another day to evaluate longer-term continuity. A few guest messages cannot establish performance across days.
These lines are an illustrative test, not a transcript from a user and not a claim that every character passes. You can start with the limited browser guest trial to assess style before creating an account.
What to do when the AI gets it wrong
State a short correction and the context needed for the next reply. Do not repeatedly add sensitive personal details to force recall. On eligible text replies in an authenticated chat, use the optional rating and a reason such as forgetting or repetition. This feedback helps identify reported quality problems; it is not an immediate memory-edit command.
Keep control of what you share
Avoid putting passwords, payment details or sensitive personal information into a memory test. Removing a detail from a conversation or asking the AI to forget it is not proof of deletion from every storage system. Consult the privacy policy and account settings for account controls. Contact support for a data-removal question without including unnecessary private chat content.
Frequently asked questions
Does saved chat history mean the AI remembers everything?
No. A stored conversation and the context used to generate a reply are different. A system may select recent messages, summaries or remembered facts rather than use every past message. The AI can still forget or recall something incorrectly.
Are relationship levels a measure of memory accuracy?
No. Relationship progress records engagement with a character. A higher level does not prove that the AI recalled a fact correctly, and buying a plan does not guarantee perfect memory.
How can I check continuity without sharing sensitive information?
Use a fictional, harmless detail, continue the conversation and later ask a natural follow-up. Return to the same character and conversation. Check whether the answer uses the right detail rather than merely sounding confident.
Can I edit every stored memory in Girls In Sync?
There is currently no user-facing editor for every stored memory. A correction in chat is not proof that an older stored record was erased. Use the privacy and account-deletion process for data-removal requests.
How can I report a reply that forgets or repeats things?
In an authenticated chat, eligible text replies have an optional rating. A downvote can include a fixed reason such as forgetting, repetition or being off-topic. It reports a problem; it does not itself rewrite the character's memory.
